On October 11, CURMA welcomed thirty inspiring women from San Juan, Bacnotan, and San Fernando to our center for a soapmaking livelihood training. Participants learned to create eco-friendly products, crafting both an all-purpose cleaning bar and a gentle bath soap. This initiative is designed to equip these women with sustainable skills that foster economic empowerment while promoting environmental responsibility.
A key highlight of the workshop was the use of repurposed cooking oil, generously donated by Buhay Gulay. By turning this often-discarded oil into soap, participants not only created new products but also embraced a circular economy model that benefits both their communities and the environment. Soapmaking kits were provided to each woman, giving them the resources needed to launch their own eco-friendly ventures.
The event was further enriched by a nourishing plant-based meal from La Union Vibrant Women Incorporated (LUVWI), led by 1st District Board Member and Chairperson Joy Ortega, creating a warm and fulfilling experience for everyone. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to LUVWI and the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines for their invaluable support in bringing this initiative to life.
