On November 6, in the shores of Barangay Pudoc, Bauang, La Union, resident Jolynas Navarro discovered tracks of a nesting sea turtle while searching for shells. Recognizing the significance of the find, Navarro promptly reported the discovery to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Bauang. With the quick action of Navarro and support from MENRO Bauang and Barangay Pudoc officials, the nest containing 83 eggs was safely relocated to a hatchery.
The eggs are currently incubating and are expected to hatch in January. This event marks Bauang’s first sea turtle nest of the season and is a positive milestone for local conservation efforts aimed at protecting sea turtles and raising awareness about their ecological importance. Special appreciation is extended to Navarro, MENRO Bauang, the Municipality of Bauang, La Union, and Barangay Pudoc officials for their role in securing this valuable find.
