First Sea Turtle Hatchlings of the Season Released in Bacnotan, La Union

On November 14, the first sea turtle hatchlings of the season were released into the ocean in Bacnotan, La Union. A total of 93 baby turtles made their way across the sand and began their journey of survival. This marks the beginning of the season’s hatchling releases, a significant milestone for local conservation efforts.

The nest was discovered by Robert Gamboa during a walk along the shores of Baroro, Bacnotan. Thanks to his timely discovery, the eggs were safely protected until they hatched. Watching these tiny turtles take their first steps into the ocean serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting sea turtles and their fragile habitats.

This release is just the start, with many more hatchlings expected to be released in the coming months. The community is invited to join and experience the magic of these events, which highlight the ongoing efforts to safeguard and conserve sea turtle populations.
